The Trusts Signs New Sponsorship Deal With Netball Waitakere
The Trusts has recently agreed an exciting one-year community partnership with Netball Waitakere. The sponsorship is worth $15,000 and will see the old outdated lighting in the Te Pai indoor netball centre replaced with brand new, more energy efficient LED lighting.
The new community partnership is something of a departure for The Trusts. Amanda Cassidy, Marketing Manager, explains why The Trusts was drawn to Netball Waitakere: ‘Netball is the largest women’s sport out West,’ says Amanda.
‘We were impressed by the fact that Netball Waitakere is very much a grass-roots organisation. It’s effectively an umbrella for all the local community netball clubs. This really appealed to us as it means the partnership will have more direct impact on West Aucklanders.’
Karyne Ross, Netball Waitakere’s General Manager, is just as excited about the new partnership. ‘It will make a huge difference to us going forward,’ she advises.
‘Not only will we be saving valuable dollars on our electricity bills and ongoing maintenance and repair, it also means that our members’ fees can be better spent on more important netball-related activities.’
There’s no doubting that members stand to gain much from the improved facilities at Te Pai Centre. With up to 11,000 people using the facility on average each week – whether it’s as players, spectators, referees, coaches and managers, that’s an awful lot of people who will directly benefit from the new improved lighting.
Karyne points out that getting support for one-off capital costs like this is always a challenge for community organisations.
‘We’ve wanted to upgrade the lighting for some time now,’ says Karyne, ‘but we found ourselves struggling to cover the costs.’
‘The community partnership is really important because it means that finally we can go ahead with replacing the lighting. Plus we will also be making significant savings over time which we can put back into netball instead.’
The project is due to be completed by June. And so, the 10,000 playing members who take part in Netball Waitakere’s summer and winter leagues won’t have long to wait before enjoying the new and improved Te Pai Centre.
